Slice, Dice + Spice NY
Slice, Dice + Spice NY
Food Season is open in the Finger Lakes!
New York State chefs are sharpening their knives and foodies are honing their culinary skills in anticipation for this year’s Slice, Dice and Spice NY culinary competition!
On Oct. 19, nine top chefs from Finger Lakes and Buffalo restaurants will each team up with a group of amateur foodies and compete against each other in an Iron Chef-like event to be held at the New York Wine & Culinary Center. The ensuing competition will feature many Finger Lakes and New York State culinary assets. The teams will create a meal using common “Market Basket” ingredients and one secret ingredient. All of these ingredients will come from New York and showcase the vast amount of products that can be found in the area. Along with creating a appetizer, main course and dessert – the chefs will have the task of pairing each of their dishes with a wine from the Canandaigua Wine Trail.
The meals will be judged by a panel of food experts from the Finger Lakes and Buffalo, and the top three chefs of each heat will move on to the Slice, Dice and Spice finals on Oct. 25. Keep an eye on the Brackets Page to stay in the know.
These Chefs will be competing October 25:
Chef Michael Bommelje (winner of the 1st Heat)
Chef Kate Elliott (winner of the 2nd Heat)
Chef Nick Rada (winner of the 3rd Heat)
At the finals, there will be tasting tables from local and regional restaurants, food producers and wineries along with live music. On this day, the chefs will compete as they did on Oct. 19, only this time to be crowned the winner of 2009’s Slice, Dice and Spice NY competition.
